An inappropriate incident involving a child was investigated by the Chillicothe Police Department, at a retail store in the 1000 block of Graves Street Monday afternoon. Officers arrived shortly after 12:30 pm and were told a woman attempted to pick up a child while in the check-out line, she exposed her breasts while in a store and took an item from the store without paying.
The officers located the woman and learned she suffers from Autism and had no malicious intent toward the child. The report states she had briefly avoided her parent/guardian, which led to the incident.
Officers explained to the parent of the victim child about the woman’s mental disorder. The parent was understanding and did not wish to pursue any criminal charges.
The incident was reported to the Adult Abuse and Neglect Hotline.
