Don’t expect a new Ryan Lane Bridge anytime soon. The bridge has been closed for a year, after an accident revealed additional deficiencies of the structure. The bridge had also been closed to truck traffic for several years. City Administrator Darin Chappell says that bridge is a complicated issue.
The other crossings are at Jackson Street and Third Street.
He says given the response from the railroad and MoDOT, if the city wants to replace the bridge, the cost would be around $2 million. He says they are looking at possibilities, but there has been no progress on replacing the bridge.
