The Chillicothe Fire Department responded to two reports of smoke or fire over the weekend.
Chillicothe firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Gilbert Street in Southern Chillicothe. The call came in about 4:24 pm and the fire department arrived in two minutes to find a pick-up in the roadway to find the occupants out of the truck and a smoke-filled cab. The fire was in the area of the rear seat and was electrical. The batteries were disconnected and the owner had the truck towed from the scene. the fire department was on the scene for about 15 minutes.
The Chillicothe Fire Department responded to a call for smoke in a building of a business Sunday morning. The call came in about 10:11 am at 1307 North Washington Street. The fire department responded to find no smoke showing outside the building.. the manager reported a light haze of smoke and “a smell.” The fire department determined there was a problem with the HVAC motor. The breaker was turned off and the fire department returned to service after about 15 minutes.
