The Livingston County Ambulance Board approved an increase in the tax rate for personal property and real estate beginning at the 1st of the year. The rate had been set at .1204 per $100 valuation. The maximum levy allowed without a vote of the people is .3000. The rate was increased by three cents to .1504.
Board President Bill Hayen says that is the first increase in the tax rate since before 2008 and the increase is due to the increased cost of personnel and ambulances.
The board also had discussions on the current equipment and new equipment. They do have one ambulance that is already on order and should arrive in April. They DID NOT order any new ambulances at this time.
