The administrators, teachers, and staff at all Livingston county schools have been declared essential. The declaration by the Livingston County Health Department was made this week and the Chillicothe R-II School Board meet Friday to work out the protocols necessary to have the staff and teachers that are quarantined, return to work beginning Monday, September 28th.

Under the protocols, If at any time, the returning essential worker presents symptoms of COVID-19, or receive a positive COVID-19 test result, then they will be required to complete their necessary quarantine period, or isolation.
Wiebers says with the essential worker status, they hope to return teachers to the classroom and reduce the need for as many substitutes.
So What Does This Mean?
The Chillicothe R-II School District, as of Friday, had 16 teachers that were quarantined and not able to be in the school buildings. With the approval of the Essential Worker declaration, Superintendent Dan Wiebers says eight of those teachers will be returning to the buildings on Monday.
Wiebers says they have been working with the health center to address concerns about the welfare of the students.
Wiebers says they were informed Friday about a teacher that has tested positive for COVID-19 and will require an entire classroom to be quarantined. Additional information will be released after parents have been notified.
