Missouri’s Department of Economic Development awarded $870,000 in grants to libraries in Missouri. The grants are through the Missouri State Library to help residents access high-speed internet for telehealth and distance learning in response to COVID-19.
The broadband funding for Missouri libraries was allocated up to $2.5 million in CARES Act funding for this program. The Missouri State Library and Missouri Department of Economic Development reviewed and approved grant applications. One area library will receive funding through the grant.
Carrollton Public Library received $12,000 to expand bandwidth, establish up to 5 community access points, and offer up to 25 hotspots and 6 laptops for a lending program.
