A pit for the railroad is in the process of being dug as a requirement of the Railroad Inspectors. City Administrator Darin Chappell says the pit is being dug in the area south of 1st street, between the rail crossing and the viaduct.
The work on the pit began Tuesday and the Railroad inspectors will be returning soon and need to see progress on the construction of the pit.
