The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department reports several investigations in the first half of October.
October 1st, deputies began working on a fraud/theft case received from the Chillicothe Police Department as the incident happened outside the city limits. The victim fell prey to a scam that grandchild had been arrested and needing bond money. They are out nearly $10,000, Sheriff Cox says they scammers asked for an additional $2,000 until a cashier realized it was a scam.
October 4th investigated the death of an elderly man on LIV 514. The man was at home with his spouse and had possibly fallen and was found deceased.
October 5th, the possible theft of a license plate was reported by a Mooresville resident.
Deputies have completed an investigation of two juveniles allegedly producing obscene material and one sending it to the other via internet.
Deputies also made significant progress with a suicide investigation from October 13. They found the man was not homeless, but had been living in Chillicothe with another person.
