An 18-0 run on points in the first quarter helped the Chillicothe Lady Hornets basketball team beat Platte County 56 to 26 in the Savannah Tournament.
Platte County whittled a 16-point Chillicothe lead down to six points late in the second quarter. Chillicothe rebuilt a double digit lead early in the third quarter and held it the entire second half.
Unofficially the Lady Hornets were led by Essie Hicks with 13 points, Brooke Horton and Joli Bonderer each with 12, Selby Miller with eight, Ellie Barnett with five and Jessica Reeter, Lucy Reeter and Clara Leamer each had two points. Kinlei Boley and Sophia Luetticke also played but didn’t score.

Platte County had problems with their outside shooting, hitting just one trey out of 27 attempts, unofficially.
Chillicothe will face Savannah for Consolation Friday at 5:30pm. KC Southeast faces Platte County for Seventh. On the winners side of the bracket, Maryville beat William Chrisman 50 to 43 and Benton beat Smithville 54-42. William Chrisman meets Smithville for Third and Maryville plays Benton for the Championship. All four games will be Friday night.
