The Lamar football program picked up another state championship. They beat KC St Pius X from the Midland Empire Conference game 6 to 3.
St Pius scored late in the 3rd quarter on a 40 yard field goal. Lamar answered 19 seconds later on a 74 yard touchdown pass. The Extra Point failed.
Pius was held in check by the Lamar Defense. The Warriors picked up just 95 yards passing and had a negative four yards rushing in the game.
In the Class 4 Championship. Helias beat Mary Institute/Country Day 35 to 30.
Three championships are being played today. The Class 1 game had Mid Buchanan against Windsor at 1:00pm.
The Class 3 championship game has Maryville against Blair Oaks in a rematch from week one when Blair Oaks beat a depleted Maryville team 51 to 8.
The Class 5championship has Platte County against Jackson.
