The first round of the Bishop LeBlond Holiday tournament featured eight, first round games that featured several blow out wins and a couple of close games.
In girls first round games: Bishop LeBlond beat Plattsburg 56 to 36, North Andrew over Brookfield girls 42-30 and in two lopsided games East Buchanan girls over KC Hogan Prep 65 to 5. East Buck girls led 54-0 in the middle of the third quarter before Hogan Prep scored their first points. The Savannah girls shutout KC East 73-0. The game ended as a 5-on-4 contest after one of KC East’s five-member team fouled out.
On the Boys side North Andrew over Brookfield 62 to 41. St Michael the Archangel beat East Buchanan 86 to 45. Smithville boys hit key free throws late in the game to hold off KC East 61-58. East missed a trey at the buzzer.
In a nail biter finish, LeBlond boys held on to a 54-52 win over Plattsburg.
Semi-final games scheduled for today have been moved to Wednesday. In the girls bracket: Consolation semifinals are KC Hogan Prep against KC East, Brookfield against Plattsburg and in the winners bracket, East Buchanan against Savannah and Bishop LeBlond against North Andrew.
Boys Consolation semi-finals are East Buchanan against Brookfield and KC East against Plattsburg. Winners semi-finals are St Michael the Archangel against North Andrew and Smithville against Bishop LeBlond.
Medal round games have been pushed back to Thursday.
