The Chillicothe Hornets varsity basketball team scored the first points in a 44-36 win at Lawson, off a Hayden Simmer trey. They led the rest of the game but only once by double figures.
Coach Tim Cool said it was nice to just get to play a game after the long holiday lay-off.
Griff Bonderer led Chillicothe with 17 points, Hayden Simmer with 14, Wyatt Brandsgaard with 10 and James Mathew with 2. Also seeing playing time were Mason Baxter, Eli Cross, Landon Winder and Freshman Jackson Trout.
The Chillicothe Junior Varsity Boys team lost a close game to Lawson 36 to 33
