Employers should be sending out the paperwork needed for the income portion of your tax return and that should be to the employees near the end of January. Once you have that paperwork, you can start the process of figuring and filing your tax return. Michael Devine from the IRS says while some will receive a refund, others will need to pay additional funds to cover their tax debt. Devine says if you need to pay in, you don’t have to wait to file and pay closer to the April 15th deadline.
Of course, if you are receiving a refund, you can file at any time. The sooner you file, the sooner your return is processed and you receive your refund.
