The Chillicothe Lady Hornets basketball team will play for the Lawson Tournament Championship at 2:00pm on Saturday thanks to a convincing 50 to 22 win over Penney of Hamilton. Chillicothe jumped to an early 12-2 lead after the first quarter and 24 to 12 at the half.
Chillicothe was led by eight points from Jessica Reeter, Selby Miller and Lucy Reeter, seven points from Essie Hicks, five from Jolie Bonderer, four points from Ellie Barnett, three from Izzie Montgomery and, Sophia Luetticke plus two from Brooke Horton and Cali Burkhard. Receiving playing time were Clara Leamer, Bre Pithan and Kinlei Boley.
Penney of Hamilton was led by 10 points from Brighton Swindler, seven from Somers Finch, two from Julia Kanoy, Olivia Edwards and one from Madi Allen.
Everyone who dressed out for each team saw playing time.
Chillicothe girls will play #3 seed North Platte, which upset #2 Lawson 50 to 48.
