The Tax Filing Season for the IRS is open and Micheal Devine says they are processing returns.
Devine says if you file by paper and mail in the return, are due a refund, and want a physical check, it could take 6-8 weeks to receive that refund.
Devine says when filing electronically, whether you do the return yourself or have a tax professional file for you, you will receive a notice.
The IRS also has a way for you to check the status of your return.
