The Chillicothe School Board has hired a new Head Football Coach, and it is a familiar name. Chad Smith has been hired as the 30th head coach in the 116-year program history.
Smith has served as the Hornets defensive coordinator the last several years, and has been the Head Wrestling Coach at Chillicothe for the last seven years.
The Hornets will return several starters and reportedly have promising players coming up through the various underclassmen.
The School Board approved the hire in their most recent board meet. They also accepted the resignation of Nikolas Ferri as assistant Football Coach and middle school boys basketball coach.
Former Coach Tim Rulo stepped down earlier this year after his 3rd season at Chillicothe. He has accepted a job as the Russellville Head Coach, a program in Central Missouri that will be in its second year this fall. Rulo recently stepped down from his teaching and coaching position after this year to move closer to his parents.
