The Chillicothe Mudcats were on the wrong end of the MINK League ten-run rule for the second straight night, losing 16-6 in 7 innings on Friday night in Joplin.
Chillicothe shortstop Payton Allen reached base three times, and Tanner Sears delivered a bases-clearing three-run triple to give the Mudcats a 6-2 lead going into the bottom of the 5th inning.
But Mudcats pitching couldn’t hold the lead in this one, giving up seven runs in both the 5th and 7th innings. Final score 16-6 in favor of the Joplin Outlaws.
It was the 5th loss in a row for the Mudcats, who are in the midst of their longest road trip of the season.
The Mudcats will be back in action on Saturday night in Jefferson City. KCHI’s pregame show starts around 6:50 with the first pitch at 7:00.
