Chillicothe Police were kept busy over the weekend with numerous calls, including fireworks violations.
Calls on Saturday included:
12:00 am Fire in a dumpster at the Alexander St. Apts. Officers were able to extinguish it.
7:36 am, Lost property was turned in to Officer at the PD…Owner notified by Officer.
8:18 am Officers out in the 1100 block of Jackson Street to return property. No one home.
11:27 am Officer out in the 500 blocks of W. Business 36 checking on a report of bullying. Handled by Officer.
11:50 am Officer to provide funeral escort for local business.
12:22 pm, Commercial business alarm in the 300 block of South Washington Street. Contact made with an employee at the scene.
2:47 pm, Possible domestic problem in the area of Jackson and Highland Streets. Officer located the parties but no disturbance is to have occurred. No report.
3:19 pm, Subject calling PD with a question regarding the shooting of fireworks. Officer speaking to them.
5:10 pm, Officers checking a report of subjects in the 10 block of E. Jackson Street acting suspiciously. Subjects contacted by Officers and advised to leave the property.
5:37 pm, the Officer speaking with the resident in the 100 block of Polk Street about suspicious activity. Handled by Officer.
9:01 pm, Officers called to 500 block of Walnut Street about disruptive juvenile. Officers calmed the situation and provided parents with options.
The Police Department received numerous calls of fireworks still being discharged after the allotted time of 10:00 pm. Citizens were reminded of the stopping time of 10:00 pm and that fireworks can be shot from 8:00 am until 11:00 pm on July 4th.
The Chillicothe Police Department received 95 calls for service on Sunday.
2:42 PM, Officers located an unsecured door in the 600 block of Locust Street while conducting building checks. Nothing appeared to have been tampered with and the building owner was contacted.
9:26 AM, Officers responded to the 400 block of Elm Street about suspicious activity. Upon investigation, an unknown person turned off the electrical breaker to a large outdoor refrigerator/freezer unit causing the food inside to melt and spoil. The investigation is ongoing.
10:33 AM, Officers responded to an alarm in the 300 block of South Washington Street. Upon Officers’ arrival, it was determined the alarm was false and the building was secure.
2:56 PM, Officers with the assistance of K-9 Enoch, arrested a subject with a Hillboro, Florida absconder warrant. He was transported to the Daviess DeKalb Jail to wait for extradition back to Florida.
7:26 PM, Officers responded to the 1200 block of Jackson for a report of a disturbance. Upon Officers’ arrival, no disturbance was seen or heard. Officers attempted to contact the subject at two different locations where they believed it may have been occurring, no disturbance was located.
Officers also conducted traffic stops, business checks, numerous fireworks violations, and followed up with numerous investigations.
