The annual Pershing Day Celebration at the Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site is September 15th and this year will include a formal dedication ceremony for the new First World War Commemorative Garden. Denzel Heaney from the Historic Site says the festivities take place throughout the day, and the dedication ceremony will start at 2:00 pm, immediately following the annual Pershing Day Parade.
Heaney says the garden will be planted with a special poppy, which is a hybrid of the American Legion Poppy and the Flanders Field Poppy.
