As children in Chillicothe and the surrounding area prepare for the new school year, the transition back to a school setting may be tougher for young children this year. Extension Child Development Specialist at Kansas State University, Bradford Wiles says those that were in pre-school or daycare may struggle. Wiles says social interaction stopped for many young children when COVID hit.
Wiles says many parents are happy to see the schools and daycares open to a normal schedule, but it’s not the same for the child that may find it hard to recall the classroom time.
Wiles recommends preparing your child for the change in their routine.
He says this may also be tough on the parents who will see their child going through this tough time at an early age.
