The Chillicothe Softball team won a game and lost a game in the Pool Play of the Greater Kansas City Softball Tournament, hosted by William Chrisman High School.
Chillicothe opened with a 7 to 1 loss to Grain Valley, a larger school that had a very successful season last year. Chillicothe scored in the bottom of the first, but Grain Valley scored three in the fifth inning and two in the sixth and seventh innings. Kirsten Dunn had the only hit for the Lady Hornets.
Kinlei Boley and Hallie Rucker combined to take the loss, allowing 7 runs off 10 hits with three strike outs and only two walks.
In the second game Chillicothe opened with a strong top of the first inning and held on to beat Pleasant Hill 6 to 3.
Chillicothe scored five in the top of the first and one in the third.
Chillicothe had Sophia Luetticke with a double and single, Kinlei Boley with a double and Halle Rucker with a single.
Rucker, Boley and Hadley Beemer combined on the mound to allow three runs off six hits with four strike outs and two walks.
