The Chillicothe Lady Hornets won a pitchers duel at home in a 1-0 win over Kirksville.
The top of the first started when Kirksville loaded the bases with one out. The Lady Hornets pitching then set the tone with back to back strike outs.
Chillicothe had chances in the bottom of the second with bases loaded with two outs, but failed to score.
The pitching duel continued until the bottom of the fifth inning when Sophia Luetticke had a lead off single. She then advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third and scored on an error by the third baseman.
Kirksville then went down 1-2-3 in the sixth and seventh innings.
Chillicothe pitcher Kinlei Boley struck out 13 Kirksville batters with no walks, no errors and allowed just three hits in the shut out.
Kirksville struck out 10 Lady Hornets, walked two and allowed the one run off five hits.
At the plate, Bre Pithan had a double and single, with singles by Luetticke, Boley and Mika Hibner.
