Hornets Beat Kirksville, Off to 2-0 Start

The Chillicothe Hornets football team scored early and went on beat Kirksville at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium 34-14 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Chillicothe’s defense force Kirksville to end their first possession with a punt Hornets Griff Bonderer fielded the punt and took it 57 yards down the sidelines to the house for a quick 7-0 lead.
Later in the first quarter Silas Midgyett took it in from one yard out to finish a 12 play, 72-yard drive for a 13-0 lead.
The Hornets scored again in the early 2nd quarter on a Corbin Rodenberg 6 yard run to lead 20-0 at halftime.
Kirksville scored in the middle of the second on a 16-yard touchdown pass to end a 11 play 71 yards drive.
Chillicothe wasn’t finished yet in the second quarter. Gage Leamer connected with Brock Ward for a 26-yard touchdown pass for a 26-8 halftime lead.
Chillicothe secured the victory with an impressive 18-play 90-yard touchdown drive that ended with Leamer running it in from the 1 yard line, and also running in the conversion for the final score.
