TThe Chillicothe Varsity Soccer team won their fifth straight match with a 5-1 win at Savannah.
The Savages scored in the second minute but Chillicothe took over the rest of the match. Drake Cosgrove scored in the 18th minute off a Nate King assist and again one minute later off a Chace Corbin assist.
Corbin scored 10 minutes later off a Jacob Adams assist to give the Hornets a 3-1 lead at intermission.
Cosgrove scored in the 41st minute off a Corbin assist, then Corbin scored off a Cosgrove assist in the 68th minute.
Jaxon Albertson protected the Chillicothe goal with six saves.
Coach Cunningham said his guys bounced back after a sluggish first 15-minutes. He said Cosgrove and Corbin continue to play at “an incredible level” and leading the attack.
He also singled out Nate King for organizing the Hornet defense after allowing an early goal, and limited Savannah’s chances in the second half.
Cunningham said his midfielders also “played really well”, helping the Hornets keep possession of the ball.
The JV match ended in a scoreless tie with Carson Steele earning the shut out.
