The Chillicothe 8th Grade football team won but the 7th Grade Hornets lost in a home doubleheader against Maryville on Tuesday.
In the 7th grade game, Hornets QB Alex Gamblain scored on a 14-yard run with Hagan Atchison earning the two point conversion in the first quarter. Maryville then scored twice but Chillicothe tied it with Gamblain’s second touchdown later in the game. Maryville scored twice in the 4th quarter for a 30-14 final score.
The Chillicothe 8th Grade Hornets fell behind early 6-0, but Quarterback Griff Bonderer scored on a short run and also scored the conversion for an 8-6 lead that held up until halftime
Maryville scored on a long pass in the third quarter but Chillicothe answered with a 65-yard kick off return by Brock Miller for a 14-12 Hornets lead.
Maryville answered with their own 60-yard return touchdown. After two Chillicothe goal line stands, Hornets running back Caden Potter scored on a 55-yard touchdown for a 22-18 Chillicothe win.
