This is Fire Prevention Week and The Chillicothe Fire Department is taking the opportunity to meet with students in the area schools and educate them on Fire Safety. Captain Derick Allen says it is a good opportunity to educate the children and the community.
Allen says the escape plan with a meeting place is something families should create and practice.
When at the schools, the firefighters will have a smoke detector with them, so the kids know what they sound like and know when they hear the smoke detector go off, it is time to get out.
