A hydrology study to look at the flow of water and how it affects certain parts of the community was proposed and rejected at Monday’s City Council meeting. The study was expected to cost $235,000 and would only identify problems and possible solutions. City Administrator Darin Chappell says there are parts of the community that have flooding problems with any sizeable rain.
Chappell says a change to a property at a higher elevation can cause problems for a property downstream.
He says the city is aware of several problem areas and some of the causes of the problems, but often the solution is not in the city’s control as it may be on private property.
Chappell says because the cost of the study is very high and it would not fix the problems, they chose to not do the study at this time.
