The FCC announced the second round of funding to connect even more students and library patrons with new tools for online learning and communicating with teachers in their ongoing work to close the Homework Gap
Acting Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel says they are providing resources for schools and libraries across the country, from tiny communities in Delta Junction, Alaska to large school districts like New York City.
Three school districts in the local area received funding in this round, including Chillicothe, Brookfield, and Bosworth.
Chillicothe R-II Superintendent Dan Wiebers was very pleased with the announcement of $138,569.
He says this will cover 350 devices and extended service provided with hotspots.
Wiebers says the devices would have needed to be replaced or repaired, and this means that funding can now be used in other areas within the district budget.
The funds awarded to Brookfield total $22,000 and Bosworth will receive $73,000.
