A 17-year-old girl died after taking counterfeit prescription pills. Sunday morning, the Chillicothe Police Department responded to a call for an unresponsive girl in the 400 block of Cherry Street. The investigation showed the girl had taken counterfeit “prescription” pills, which can contain dangerous amounts of controlled substances that may cause overdose or death
Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples says officers have recently responded to other incidents of overdosing due to the counterfeit pills, however, the persons did not die.
As part of the investigation, the officers determined who distributed the controlled substance to the victim. They arrested a 23-year-old woman for the distribution of dangerous drugs and are seeking charges for murder.
That evening, Chillicothe Police Officers, Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of Polk St. after applying for and obtaining the search warrant through the Livingston County Court. As a result, they located more of the counterfeit pills along with other controlled substances. They also arrested a 32-year-old man. Both the man and woman are held at the Daviess Dekalb Regional Jail.
