State Troopers report two people were injured in separate accidents Tuesday
A Three vehicle accident near Marceline left one driver with minor injuries. The accident happened Tuesday at about 8:15 am on the westbound US 36 on-ramp. According to the State Troopers, 24-year-old Keegan R Sheppard of Brookfield had slowed due to congestion on the road and was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by 63-year-old C G Mick of Brookfield. The Mick vehicle was also struck from behind by a driver from Iowa. Sheppard had minor injuries and was taken to Pershing Memorial Hospital for treatment.
At about 9:30 am Tuesday in Chariton County, a single-vehicle accident left a 19-year-old woman with moderate injuries. Sally M Schmidt of Carrollton was southbound on Highway 5 near Forest Green and ran off the left side of the road. Her vehicle struck an embankment, Schmidt was taken to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment. She was wearing a safety belt.
