The Chillicothe Hornets boys basketball team lost a close contest in the Savannah Tournament to Smithville 56 to 52 in a back and forth contest. Smithville outscored Chillicothe 18-13 in the second quarter and held on for the win.
Hornets Coach Tim Cool was proud of how his team fought to the final buzzer.
Wyatt Brandsgaard led Chillicothe with 15 points, Griff Bonderer with 14, Jackson Trout with 12, Landon Winder with six, James Mathew with five and playing time for Chase Corbin. Smithville was led by one player with 25 points.
In a schedule change to accommodate Smithville’s appearance in the State Football Post Season, the 7th place game between the Hornets and KC Hogan Prep will be tonight (Friday) with the pregame at 5:10 and tip off at 5:30 on KCHI.
