The Chillicothe Lady Hornet played a strong all-around game to win their MEC conference opener at home. Chillicothe held the Class 2 #4 ranked Bishop LeBlond team scoreless in the third quarter, after the Lady Hornets trailed 22-16 at halftime.
Coach Darren Smith said his team showed their toughness with the 18-0 third quarter.
The Lady Hornets iced the game by going 10 of 10 at the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
Chillicothe was led by Jessica Reeter with 16 points, Jolie Bonderer with 11, Essie Hicks with 10, Lucy Reeter with 8, Bre Pithan with 2 and playing time for Ellie Barnett, Cali Burkhart and Kayanna Cranmer.
Chillicothe also won the Junior Varsity game 37 to 35, after leading 25 to 7 at the half. LeBlond tried a three point shot on an in bounds play in the JV game with two seconds left, but missed the potential game winning shot.
