The Chillicothe Hornets beat Penney of Hamilton 55 to 19 in their Lawson Tournament opening game. Chillicothe jumped out to an early 6-0 lead and never looked back.
Chillicothe Coach Tim Cool said he was proud of his team’s energy and effort in the win.
Griff Bonderer led Chillicothe with 21 points. Wyatt Brandsgaard had 12, Landon Winder and James Mathew each had five points, Chace Corbin with four, Ricky Wilson and Jackson Trout both with three, Milo Costner with two and playing time for Langston Johnson and Carson Samm.
Andrew Rich led Penney of Hamilton with eight points.
The Chillicothe Boys play Thursday against the winner of Tuesday’s West Platte vs Christo Rey game.
In other Lawson tournament games, Richmond beat Trenton boys 77 to 21 and Lawson beat Trenton girls 65 to 31.
