The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Softball team turned good hitting into runs to beat Lexington Monday 16-1 in a home game halted early due to the “mercy rule.” Coach Mike Jones used the game as a chance to work 18 Lady Hornets into the line up.
Chillicothe scored five runs in the bottom of the first. Mica Hibner sent a ball over the left field fence for a home run as part of a three run second inning.
Chillicothe scored five more runs in the third inning, then scored three in the fourth for the 16-1 win. In addition to the Hibner home run, Chillicothe had three singles from Abby Jones, two from Kennedy Corzette and Kiley Kirkpatrick and one single each from Libby Adkins, Lexie walker, Bailey Pithan, Jordan Hibner and Mollie Ellis.
Ellis pitched the four innings, allowing 1 run off 2 hits with 1 strike out and three walks.
The Chillicothe Junior Varsity team won 6-0.
