The April 5th Municipal Election includes school board races, municipal races in some communities, and several ballot questions, depending on where you live. In Livingston county:
Voters in the Chillicothe R-II School District will be asked to vote on the school board race. There are two candidates and two seats available. The candidates are both incumbents, Clint Williams and Bill Hayen.
There are also two ballot questions for the expansion of the Chillicothe Elementary School.
Question #1
Shall the Chillicothe R-II School District, Livingston County, Missouri borrow Nine Million Dollars ($9,000,000) and issue general obligation bonds as evidence thereof, for purposes of constructing, improving, furnishing and equipping new and existing school buildings and related facilities, including but not limited to expansion and improvement of Chillicothe Elementary School to accommodate enrollment for future grades 2 through 5?
The authorization of the Bonds is expected to result in no tax increase, and the District’s debt service levy is expected to remain unchanged at $0.9660 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation of real and personal property.
Question #2
In order to extend authorization for Chillicothe R-II School District, Livingston County, Missouri, to impose an operating levy for capital expenditures in the amount of twelve cents ($0.12) per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation, which authority currently expires in 2023, shall the District’s Board of Education be authorized to increase the operating tax levy by the same twelve cents ($0.12) per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation after such expiration? Because the operating levy increase is in substitution for a portion of the school district’s current operating levy that is scheduled to expire in 2023, if this question is approved, the adjusted operating levy of the District is estimated to remain unchanged at $3.7393 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation.
The Livingston County Ambulance District #6 has a board position on the ballot. There is one candidate: Ron Beetsma
The Livingston County Ambulance District #3 has a board position on the ballot. There are two candidates for one position: Mary Taylor and Nona Wilkison
The Village of Ludlow is looking to fill three positions on the town board.
There are two positions with two year terms and no candidates
There is one position with one year remaining on an unexpired term, with no candidates
The Livingston County R-III (Chula) has three school board positions available
There are two board positions with three-year terms. The candidates include April Gramenz, Steven Case, and John Graves. (you may vote for two)
There is one position with a two-year term. There is one candidate for that position. That is Madison Imgarten.
For the City of Chula, there are three races.
For Mayor: John Graves and Cory Ireland
For North Ward: Benny Simpson
For South Ward: Kyle Gremenz
For the Hale School District, there are two seats available on the School Board and one candidate – Sarah Ralls
For the Trenton R-IX School District, there are three seats available on the school board.
Two have a three-year term. Those candidates include Dorothy Taul, Jeffery R Spencer, Toby Lee Havens, and Joshua W Shuler.
One seat has a one-year term. The candidate is Jason Hostetler.
Cream Ridge Township Road District Question.
Shall the Cream Ridge Township General Road District of Livingston County levy an additional tax rate of thirty-five cents ($0.35) on the 100 dollar ($100) valuation, for a period of four years? If approved, the current total tax levy will be thirty-five cents on the one hundred dollar valuation.
Sampsel Township Road District Question.
Shall the Sampsel Township General Road District of Livingston County levy an additional tax rate of thirty-five cents ($0.35) on the 100 dollar ($100) valuation, for a period of four years? If approved, the current total tax levy will be thirty-five cents on the one hundred dollar valuation.
