The Chillicothe Lady Hornets battled hard but couldn’t overcome St Joseph Benton’s strong defense and saw their season end with a 47-39 District championship loss to Benton.
The Lady Cardinals scored the first basket in the game and led the rest of the game. Chillicothe fought back from down by 11 points and closed it to within three points but could get no closer.
Lady Hornets coach Darren Smith said he knew what to expect.
Jessica Reeter finished with 19 points, Essie Hicks with 11, Jolie Bonderer with 7, Bre Pithan with 2 and playing time for Lucy Reeter, Ellie Barnett, Kayanna Cranmer, Cali Burkhardt and Delanie Kieffer.
Chillicothe ends the season with a 23-5 record. Benton improves to 22-5 and plays Odessa on March 8th at 6:00pm at Liberty North High School. The Lady Bulldogs are 13 and 13 on the season
