Braymer Teacher In Custody For Alleged Sexual Misconduct

A Braymer School District Science Teacher is in custody and charges of alleged first-degree sexual misconduct, sexual misconduct involving a child under 15, and four counts of furnishing pornographic material or attempting to furnish pornographic material to a minor have been filed.  Twenty-nine-year-old Zachary Wayman Douglas of Utica was arrested Friday after Calwell County Deputies investigated the complaint received Thursday.

The incident is alleged to have taken place between July of 2021 and March of this year.

Douglas, a Science Treacher at the High School and coach for Football and Baseball, is alleged to have sent photos and videos of himself to students.

Braymer School District posted the following statement on their webpage…

“Allegations are being investigated of a possible incident involving a staff member. The safety and welfare of our students is always our top priority. Braymer School District takes all student concerns and allegations seriously, investigates them pursuant to district policies and work to fully cooperate with state agencies and law enforcement. Per BSD policies and procedures, a staff member was placed on administrative leave while this matter is investigated. State and federal laws prevent us from sharing any further details at this time.”

The investigation of the incident continues.

In his initial appearance, the court has considered Douglas a flight risk and a potential danger to the victims.  He remains in custody with NO BOND ALLOWED.  He is next scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, April 7th at 10:00 am.
