This is Workzone Awareness Week and the Missouri Department of Transportation says this is to remind us to use caution when in work zones. MoDOT District Maintenance & Traffic Engineer Tonya Lohman says when traveling through a work zone, stay focused on safe driving.
Lohman says there are several ways you can tell you are approaching a work zone or that work is scheduled in the area.
You can also use online tools or apps to check your route before you leave. Try the MoDOT Traveler Information Map. It shows the work zones and other traveler information, including weather-related hazards.
Finally, Lohman reminds us to put our phones down when driving, especially in work zones.
