The Chillicothe Lady Hornets Softball team took down Kirksville 10-4 on Monday night in a rematch of the 2021 District Tournament Final.
Kinlei Boley got the win for the Hornets on the mound pitching a complete game. Boley tallied 7 strikeouts and only gave up 1 walk as she picked up her third win on the young season. She improved her record on the bump to 3-1.
Chillicothe got out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning on RBIs from Hope Helton and Adra Stretch. The game was a back-and-forth affair up until the top of the top of the 7th inning.
The Lady Hornets came into the top of the 7th with a 6-4 lead looking for an insurance run. They got more than they needed, tacking on 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning, including this RBI single from Tori Stoner.
Hope Helton was the star in the batters box for the Hornets, going 3 for 5 at the plate with 4 RBIs. Bri Pithan also punched in 3 hits, helping Chillicothe arrive at the team total of 14 hits compared to Kirksville’s 7.
Chillicothe Softball is back in action tomorrow when they host East Buchanan at 5 pm.
