The Chillicothe Hornets soccer team dropped their first game of the season to Marshall on Thursday night by a score of 7-0.
Head Coach Tim Cunningham spoke after the game about his team’s first loss.
“Tonight was a very difficult challenge for our guys. Marshall is a quality team, and although we played extremely hard, we struggled with their speed, skill and talent. I think our guys will take the many lessons we learned tonight and continue to get better, together.”
Marshall had 27 shots on goal compared to Chillicothe’s 2.
The Owls had seven different players score their goals. Carson Steele and James Matthew split time in net for the Hornets. Steele gave up two goals on eight attempts, and Matthew gave up five goals on nineteen attempts.
The Hornets are back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to Lafayette to take on the Fighting Irish at 5 pm.
