Chillicothe Girls Tennis dropped its first MEC match of the season on Monday night.
The Lady Hornets Tennis team suffered a tough loss to MEC tennis powerhouse St. Pius X on Monday night at Danner Park. The Hornets lost 9-0 as a varsity team.
Coaches Chambers and Pyrtle were both proud of the tight matches some of the athletes battled through, never giving away easy points to the visiting Warriors. Junior Rylee Washburn held a match point in a tense tie break at the end of a massive two-hour singles match, which saw dozens of 20 hit rallies in a very evenly matched competition.

BeVelle & Crowe fell to Kaur & Schmidt 3-8
Carpenter fell to A. Dunn 2-8
Washburn fell to K. Dunn 8-8 (tie break 7-9)
Garr fell to Holum 3-8
BeVelle fell to Kaur 5-8
Kieffer fell to Mussorici 1-8
Crowe fell to Schmidt 2-8
In JV competitions, all athletes got the chance to play twice against quality opponents for great playing experience. Scores were as follows:
