Don’t fall for scams where someone calls claiming to be from the IRS. IRS spokesman Michael Devine says the IRS will not call you unexpectedly demanding immediate action.
Devine says if you are already in contact with the IRS, you may receive a call, but you will know what the call is about.
He says when you do make payments to the IRS, they will be made to the Department of the Treasury. Anything else is a scam attempt.
