CMU Burn Site Violations

Chillicothe Municipal Utilities and the City of Chillicothe have a burn site for the disposal of trees, brush, and limbs.  It is located on LIV 238, east of Mitchell Avenue, and just past the railroad tracks.  The burn site is open around the clock but is not staffed.  Casey Johnson from CMU says they are finding unauthorized items at the site.

Finding trash, litter, and construction materials.

Johnson says they have taken steps to educate the public about what is allowed, by posting signs at the site.  He says the next step is enforcement.

Security cameras are in place and they have a license plate reader to identify those not following the rules.

If you have questions about the burn site, you can call the CMU office at 660-646-1664.

CMU also has a Yard Waste Composting Area for the dumping of grass clippings, leaves, garden and flower bed vegetation, and small non-woody shrub trimmings.  It is located behind the GFL Transfer Station on Mitchell Road.  Johnson says no trash is allowed at this site either.
