A single-vehicle crash in Putnam County left the driver and passenger with serious injuries Friday morning. Sixty-five-year-old David L. Carpenter and his passenger, sixty-five-year-old Ruth Dougherty, both of Bethany, were taken to Putnam County Memorial Hospital following the crash about 9:35 am on Highway 136, east of Unionville. According to the Highway Patrol report, Carpenter was eastbound when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, crossed the road, and his car overturned. They were both wearing safety belts.
