A fire on the roof of the South Towne Shopping Center Wednesday afternoon was put out quickly by Chillicothe Fire Fighters, but the cause of the fire remains unknown. Chillicothe Fire Department received the call about 4:05 pm and arrived on scene a minute later to find small flames on the roof at the back of the pharmacy. Ladders were used to access the roof and about 200 gallons of water was used to put out the fire.
The report indicates a small amount of damage on the roof, but no interior damage as a result of the fire.
The fire department contacted the State Fire Marshall to investigate as the cause of the fire was unknown. Following the investigation the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
The fire department was on the scene for about 2 ½ hours.
