Two fires in the Jamesport area were handled by the Jamesport Fire Department. Fire Chief Davey Davis says they were called for a fire at the Sherwood Surplus and Supply, off Route U, the call came in about 6:00 pm, after the business was closed and the fire crews were on the scene for about 5 hours. Mutual Aide was provided by Chillicothe and Trenton Rural Fire Departments, providing tankers to provide water to put out the fire.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to investigate and the report indicates that the cause is listed as undetermined, but the investigation has not been completed. The fire is being investigated as a criminal act.
Davis says the other fire in the Jamesport area was a circulation motor for the hydraulic fan burned. He says the 6×6 shed burned, but the fire did not spread beyond the shed.
