Animal Ordinance Revisions In Effect

The revisions to the Chillicothe Animal Ordinance approved at Monday’s City Council meeting are now in effect as the updates are posted on the City Website.  Those revisions are for residents with chickens.

Under the revisions to the Animal Ordinance:

There is no limit on the number of hens allowed.

No Roosters are allowed.

There is an annual license of $20 per household.

The City has allowed 60 days from the date of passage, until September 27th to comply with the ordinance and rehome or get rid of roosters and to obtain the license from City Hall.

If you are raising chickens and do not obtain the license by the September 27th deadline, a late fee of $10 will be added to the license fee.

If you have questions, contact the Chillicothe City Clerk at 660-646-1877.
