As the August Primary approaches, a candidate for State Treasurer, Republican Vivek Malek visited the KCHI studio while traveling across north Missouri.
Malek was appointed to the office in August of 2023. He talked a bit about his background, including being a first-generation immigrant.
He has a Masters in Business Administration and is a lawyer.
Malek explained his desire for public service since the 9-11 attack, a month after arriving in the US. He is seeking to be elected as Treasurer to fulfill a promise made when he was appointed.
He described one of his goals if he is elected to continue as State Treasurer.
The Missouri Primary Election is Tuesday, August 6th.
