Hydrant Flushing & Testing Begins Next Week

Testing and flushing of fire hydrants in the City of Chillicothe will take place beginning early next week.  CMU Water Resource Manager Chris Bonderer says the testing and flushing process may cause water to become cloudy or discolored as sediment is stirred up.  He says this does not affect the safety of the water for drinking, but if you notice the cloudiness or discoloration, you may want to flush your home’s systems, by letting a few faucets run until the water runs clear.

The testing is expected to take just over a week to complete.

The city’s hydrant testing and flushing schedule varies, but it is generally done every couple of years.
