Final renderings of the new Chillicothe Police Facility were presented to the Chillicothe City Council and they were informed the price will be nearly $7.9 million dollars.
Nick Lawler from Hoefer Welker Architects and Mike Farrington from Crossland Construction – the construction manager made the presentation to the council. City Administrator Roze Frampton says the total estimated project costs at this time are $7,872,000 which includes construction costs, plus soft costs that include furniture, appliances, testing & inspections, contingency fees (including design, construction, and owner contingencies), construction, design, and financing fees.
Lawler says they are preparing for the next phase.
Completing the documents phase and moving towards the bid phase.
Lawler and Farrington went through the drawings and talked about the pricing and some alternates that could be left off to lower the price. Those include the perimeter fencing, the parking canopies for the patrol cars, and a Sallyport.
A canopy would be built on the south side of the building for bringing detainees into the building, which could be converted to an enclosed Sallyport at a future date.
Farrington says the goal is to begin construction by the end of December.
Presented a timeline for bidding, locking in prices, and the start of construction.
The council approved continuing to move forward with the process.
